The State Department said in a statement that out of respect for the family of the victim, it had no further information for the time being. Early on Friday morning, gunmen shouting Islamic slogans attacked the Radisson Blu hotel, which is frequented by foreigners, taking 170 people hostage in the country's capital, Bamako.

Convicted Israeli spy, Jonathan Pollard, is released from prisonBy Nate Raymond NEW YORK (Reuters) - Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard was released on Friday after 30 years in an American prison but he will stay in the United States under strict parole conditions in a case that strained relations between the two allies for decades. Pollard, a former civilian intelligence analyst for the U.S. Navy, was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted in 1987 of passing classified information to Israel. "After 30 years in prison, he wants to get his life back on track," said Eliot Lauer, one of Pollard's attorneys.

The outbreak spread with new Chipotle-linked E. coli cases reported in California, Ohio, New York and Minnesota, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. The CDC said 45 people got sick from the E. coli O26 outbreak strain, and of those, 43 reported eating at Chipotle.

In legal motions filed to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the former nanny accused prosecutors of distorting facts and acting vindictively, including by suggesting she had blindfolded her spouse before shoving him to his death. Graham's attorneys also alleged that prosecutors engaged in misconduct by calling her a sociopath during a court hearing, and by wrongly arguing that she deserved a life sentence because she plotted Johnson's killing in advance.

A magnitude 4.1 quake hit near the north Oklahoma town of Medford on Friday, the second temblor in two days to hit the area where energy extraction takes place. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake, initially reported as a magnitude 4.6, struck at 4:40 p.m. at a shallow depth of 4.9 miles (8 km) with the epicenter 9 miles (15 km), north-northwest of Medford. A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck northern Oklahoma early on Thursday, rattling residents out of their beds and shaking the ground across a 100-mile (160-km) radius that included the city of Tulsa and the state of Kansas.
