The Plan B morning-after pill is moving over-the-counter, a decision announced by the Food and Drug Administration just days before a court-imposed deadline. On April 30, 2013, the FDA lowered to 15 the age at which girls and women can buy the emergency contraceptive without a prescription — and said it no longer has to be kept behind pharmacy counters. Instead, the pill can sit on drugstore shelves just like condoms, but that buyers would have to prove their age at the cash register. The torch was used to transfer the flame to a temporary burner while the permanent flame undergoes repair and upgrade work to install new burners, a new igniter as well as new gas and air lines. The eternal flame at the gravesite of former President John F. Kennedy is undergoing repairs at the cemetery. Before the repairs began, workers used a torch to carry the flame and pass it to a temporary burner that will be visible to tourists at the site while work is underway. Cemetery officials say the work will take about three weeks and should be completed by late May, when the flame will be passed back to the original site. A temporary flame was used from the time of Kennedy's November 1963 funeral until the permanent flame was established in 1967. Officials said repairs are needed after more than four decades of use and will include new gas lines and more efficient burners.
