Multiple attacks kill 20 in Afghanistan as NATO deadline looms Posted: 13 Dec 2014 07:20 AM PST Taliban insurgents killed at least 20 people in a series of gun and suicide attacks in Afghanistan on Saturday, underlining worsening security as US-led NATO forces end their combat mission in the country. A suicide blast wrecked an Afghan military bus in Kabul, killing seven soldiers, while a senior court official was assassinated in the city and 12 Afghan mine clearance workers were gunned down in the south. Two NATO soldiers were also killed on Friday in an attack in the east of Afghanistan, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in a statement, without identifying their nationality. The Taliban claimed responsibility for all the attacks. |

Missouri prosecutor releases more evidence from Ferguson shooting Posted: 13 Dec 2014 11:10 AM PST (Reuters) - A Missouri prosecutor on Saturday made public two dozen documents related to the investigation into the shooting of Michael Brown, a black teenager killed by a white police officer, saying his office had inadvertently held them back. St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch released 23 documents, including a transcript of an interview authorities had with Dorian Johnson, who was with Brown in August when the unarmed 18-year-old was shot and killed by Darren Wilson, in Ferguson. Police arrest man in connection with Oregon high school shooting Posted: 13 Dec 2014 11:11 AM PST By Shelby Sebens PORTLAND, Ore. (Reuters) - A 22-year-old man was arrested early on Saturday morning in connection with a shooting outside a Portland high school that wounded three teenagers and another man, police said. The suspect, identified as Lonzo Murphy, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail for violating parole, and additional charges were pending, police said. Murphy was apprehended at 1:30 a.m. local time when a vehicle he was in was stopped by the Portland Police Bureau gang unit in the western part of the city, the department said in a statement. ... |
