Suspect in Louisiana theater rampage had history of mental illness Posted: 24 Jul 2015 01:31 PM PDT A 59-year-old man who had been committed to a hospital for psychiatric care was identified by authorities on Friday as the gunman who fatally shot two people in a rampage at a crowded movie theater in central Louisiana before turning the gun on himself as police closed in. The suspected gunman, John R. Houser, who had a history of mental illness and railed against the U.S. government online, opened fire with a .40 caliber handgun about 20 minutes into the comedy film "Trainwreck," sending panicked theatergoers ducking behind seats and running for the exits. Obama's plane, Air Force One, landed in the evening in the Kenyan capital, where he will co-host a conference on boosting entrepreneurs in Africa before traveling on to Ethiopia. After being greeted by President Uhuru Kenyatta and other top Kenyan officials, Obama was whisked through the capital. |
U.S. probing possible price-gouging by airlines after rail crash Posted: 24 Jul 2015 11:40 AM PDT WASHINGTON/NEW YORK (Reuters) - The U.S. Transportation Department is investigating possible price gouging by the five biggest U.S. airlines while train service was disabled between New York and Washington following a deadly Amtrak crash in May, it said on Friday. The review involves Delta Air Lines Inc , American Airlines Group Inc , United Continental Holdings Inc , Southwest Airlines Co and JetBlue Airways Corp , all of which said they were cooperating with the probe. |
