Couple who raised $400,000 for homeless man ordered to hand over money and account for spending Posted: 31 Aug 2018 09:43 AM PDT A judge has ordered a couple who raised $400,000 for a homeless man to turn over the remainder of the funds and explain where they spent the rest. The judge's ruling stipulates a forensic accountant will review the couple's spending and the remaining $150,000 will be placed in a trust for the time being. "The administration has carefully reviewed the issue and determined that the United States will not make additional contributions to UNRWA," she said in a statement. "I am impatiently waiting for details on the implementation of the Salwa island project, a great, historic project that will change the geography of the region," Saud al-Qahtani, a senior adviser to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, said on Twitter. The plan, which would physically separate the Qatari peninsula from the Saudi mainland, is the latest stress point in a highly fractious 14-month long dispute between the two states. |

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces have been massing for days around Idlib near the Turkish border and look poised to launch what could be a last major battle in the civil war that has torn Syria since 2011. Turkey, which has already listed Al-Nusra and Al-Qaeda as terror groups, updated its list of terror groups under a document published in the official gazette and included HTS on the new list. |

Trade deal with U.S. expected to spur Mexican e-commerce Posted: 31 Aug 2018 11:07 AM PDT Mexico's fledgling e-commerce market could get a lift from a trade agreement with the Trump administration that doubles the value of goods that can be imported tax-free from the United States, online businesses and experts said. Mexico and Washington reached a deal to revamp the North American Free Trade Agreement on Monday, but talks with Canada, the other country in the 1994 pact, are ongoing and could alter the terms. The bilateral deal between the United States and its southern neighbor would see Mexico double its minimum duty-free shipment threshold, called the de minimis value, to $100, a step that should benefit both express delivery firms and online retailers such as Amazon.com Inc. |
