Speaking in Washington, the US vice-president Mike Pence said Gen Manuel Cristopher Figuera – who fled Venezuela after backing the unsuccessful 30 April uprising – was being removed from a sanctions list "in recognition of his recent actions in support of democracy and the rule of law". "We hope the action that our nation is taking today will encourage others to follow the example of General Cristopher Figuera and members of the military who have also stepped forward and taken a stand for … libertad," Pence said. The US treasury department indicated the move was designed to influence Venezuelan officials "who take concrete and meaningful actions to restore democratic order". The move is perhaps the clearest sign yet that Washington believes there may still be life in opposition leader Juan Guaidó's bid to spark a mutiny against Maduro. Figuera was the only major figure to back Guaidó when he tried to launch an insurrection outside an airforce base in Caracas last Tuesday. Reports suggest that other top members of Maduro's administration may have been involved in the "Operation Freedom" plot – but then failed to follow through for reasons that remain murky. They include Venezuela's defense minister, Vladimir Padrino López, who was sanctioned by the US last year, and the head of its supreme court, Maikel Moreno, who was sanctioned in 2017. Pence also tried to turn up the heat on the supreme court's 25 judges, warning they would be held "accountable for their actions" if they continued to support what he called "the single greatest disrupter of peace and prosperity in the western hemisphere". The company is known for taking its time and getting things right rather than trying to be first to market. Just ask Samsung about the travesty that is the Galaxy Fold and you'll understand why Apple is more than happy to do things well instead of just doing them quickly. When it comes to smartphone design, however, Apple has always been a trendsetter.Most people likely don't even remember what smartphones used to look like before the first iPhone debuted in 2007. Fast-forward a decade, and rival smartphone makers still scramble to copy Apple's every move. 2018 was indeed a rough year for smartphone fans since just about every handset out there was nothing but a boring iPhone X copycat, but 2019 is going in a completely different direction. In fact, something quite interesting is happening this year: For the first time since companies like Samsung and others popularized the phablet form factor, Android companies are actually moving away from copying Apple and starting to come up with their own novel designs.The upcoming iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, and iPhone 11R (if that's what Apple ends up calling it) are shaping up to be nearly identical to their predecessors in terms of design. There will some refinements here and there, and we know that it's going to put Android phones to shame when it comes to fit and finish. But overall, the iPhone 11 design we've seen leak time and time again is anything but exciting and new. Now, a new video has taken the information from all the leaks we've seen over the past few weeks and used it to show us what Apple's next-generation flagship iPhone models will look like.We still have more than four months to go before Apple announces its new iPhone 11 series smartphones, but the leaks have really picked up over the past month or so. Long story short, we now likely know just about everything there is to know about Apple's iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max design.The image above shows what will likely end up being the iPhone 11's only distinguishing feature as far as hardware design goes. The front of the iPhone 11 will look exactly like the front of the iPhone XS and the front of the iPhone X -- an all-screen design interrupted by a large notch at the top of the screen. Around back, however, both the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 11 Max are expected to have a large square camera array consisting of three camera lenses and an LED flash. Only, it won't actually end up looking like it does in the render above, because we recently learned that Apple has a pretty big change planned for the rear camera on its iPhone 11 series phones.In the iPhone 11 Max render above, the phone itself is gold but the area around the cameras is black. Like other smartphone makers out there, this is the design Apple has always used on its iPhones. This year, however, word from the world's most accurate Apple insider suggests that Apple has decided to color-match the iPhone 11's rear camera so that it blends in with the rest of the back of the phone. Honestly, we're not so sure how we feel about the change.It looks pretty good in the render above, but this render uses some shading on the sapphire crystal to darken the glass. As a result, there's still some contrast between the back of the phone and the camera array. The actual iPhone 11 models Apple releases later this year obviously won't have any shading on the sapphire crystal, and now a new video created by graphic designer Gunho Lee shows us what Apple's next-generation iPhones will look like with color-matched cameras.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxsWPUfmn74We'll obviously have to wait to pass a final judgement until we see the real iPhone 11 series phones Apple unveils this coming September. The Easter attacks, carried out by eight Sri Lankan suicide bombers were claimed by Isil. Eye witnesses to Sunday's clashes said that they began with a scuffle between Catholic and Muslim three-wheel trishaw drivers in Poharathota, a Muslim settlement. "It just escalated from there, ending in Muslim houses being damaged and a few trishaws set on fire," said Luxman Perera, a carpenter at the St. Sebastian's Church. The successive violence "seemed coordinated", residents told The Telegraph. "People took advantage of the situation and the violence spread very quickly," said Mohamed Nizam, a shopkeeper. The Dhalupotha mosque, some four miles from the area where the initial fight broke out, was pelted with stones and damaged by men wielding sticks. The Archbishop of Colombo, Malcom Ranjith, condemned the violence, which left homes in Muslim settlements badly damaged. "We were terrified. A mob of about eight to ten men swinging huge poles and some of them wearing helmets broke our door and rushed into our house last night. They were screaming that they will kill us," a mother of two, who asked to be identified as just Fathima, told The Telegraph. "They broke everything... The children were crying and I thought they were going to set fire to us," she said sobbing, adding she was scared for her family to stay in their home. In the past the government and the military have been accused of turning a blind eye to attacks on Muslims. The police said that no casualties were reported during the Sunday night violence. Amid tight security, classes resumed for public school students in Grades six to 13 – those between the ages of ten and 19 – although reports said most classrooms were near empty with many teachers also avoiding returning to work out of fear. Private schools, including those for Catholic students, remained closed while public school pupils aged between five and ten won't return until May 13. Students that did attend lessons today were forced to bring transparent school bags, lunch boxes and water bottles. Parking vehicles near school sites was banned entirely with special zones set up for school buses. In an attempt to gain control over Sri Lanka after the attacks, President Maithripala Sirisena has re-introduced the wartime state of emergency laws which give the police and military sweeping powers to arrest people without warrants and detain them for long periods of time. Muslim face coverings were also banned under this law last week. On Monday morning, security remained tight in Negambo, with the air force and elite special forces on guard amid an atmosphere of tense calm. St. Sebastian's Church in Negambo was the worst affected of the six bombing sites, with more than 100 worshippers killed during the Easter Sunday service.

In an interview given to Turkish state media, Rostec chief Sergei Chemezov suggested that Moscow is open to inking a Su-57 contract: "These fifth-generation Russian fighter jets [the Su-57] have outstanding qualities, and show promise for export."
